La Borie Blanche Minervois La Livinière 2016 (ABV 14.5%)

Grapes: Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre

La Livinière is a sub-region of Minervois, one of the Languedoc’s finest appellations in southern France, and a favourite of mine for many years. The grapes in the blend come from three sites close by the winery and are vinified gently and separately. The resultant wine is a deep garnet red, with complex aromas of dried fruit, ripe cherry fruit, and spice. The palate is rich, savoury, and full-bodied, with ripe black fruit notes, along with spice, pepper, and silky tannins.

Enjoy with: Roast duck.

Seixo Amarelo Reserva Douro 2021 (ABV 13.5%)

Grapes: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz & Tinto Cao

A warming, must-have red made with fruit of four indigenous grapes gathered on the steep hills of Portugal’s Douro valley. A deep violet colour, with a mix of floral, blackcurrant and cherry notes on the nose. The medium-bodied, rounded, and balanced palate is quite fresh, with nice mineral notes, along with silky tannins, a burst of soft summer berries, a hint of oak and a nice smoky finish.

Enjoy with: Roasted red meats.
