While we enjoy white wine at any time of year, summer is when they truly shine.
Here are 5 of our recommended Summer Whites:
Paco & Lola are a winery located in the Rias Baixas region of Spain, on a mission of ‘bringing the Albariño culture to anyone, anywhere in the world.’ Made of 100% Albariño grapes, the 2022 Paco & Lola Albariño has earned Platinum (97+) from the Decanter World Wine Awards and Gold in the International Wine Challenge. It pairs beautifully with pasta, seafood, pork, or chicken.
From the tip of Chablis to the toe of Beaujolais, Louis Jadot produces Burgundy and nothing but Burgundy. The familiar Bacchus head label has become the reliable stamp of quality and consistency, and the Macon Lugny is no exception. Made of 100% Chardonnay grapes, this light and easy-to-drink dry wine shows white flower and apple aromas, with a note of lemon. It pairs well with a range of foods, including poultry, fish, and mild cheeses.
This eye-catching Sauvignon Blanc comes from the North Canterbury area in New Zealand. Tiki crafts single vineyard wines that are ‘unique, elegant and assertive in a manner that is in harmony with our environment and nature. Their Sauvignon Blanc is passionfruit-driven on the nose and presents with soft acidity across the palate. This rich, complex wine has earned 94 points from Wine Orbit, and is the perfect match with grilled fish and recipes that include fresh herbs.
Based in the Rioja region in Spain, Marqués de Cáceres has been devoted to obtaining the best wines for five generations. The grapes for its Young White come from plots that are over 30 years old. It’s fresh and fruity with a complex aroma and suggestive notes of melon and flowers. Enjoy this wine as an aperitif, with soft, mild cheese, or pair with salads or seafood.
Founded in the aftermath of civil war, Cuatro Rayas winery still practices the traditional Ruedan practice of harvesting at night. The cooler temperatures at night, it is believed, better preserve the integrity of the fruit during harvest. This beautiful pale lemon-yellow verdejo has earned 90 points from Decanter magazine and has powerful notes of fresh fruit, green apple, and hay. It is fresh, balanced, sweet on the pale, round, and very fruity. It is fantastic enjoyed on its own or paired with fresh fish, seafood, pasta, cheeses, and white meats.
